The Truly Totally Different
Guitar Instruction Book

Ok, I' have had PT for a week or two now and read the book and watched the DVD a couple of times. Now to be honest with everyone I'm one of those beginners that Kirk says PT wasn't really designed for. Ok, I know a few barre chords and a few minor pentatonic patterns but apart from that I'm a total beginner. After going through PlaneTalk a couple of times I am quite frankly amazed at how simple it makes things. It does not teach you to play guitar as such BUT it EMPOWERS you to learn (with hard work), to teach yourself play any kind of music you like. It breaks all music down to its simplest form, the lowest common denominator; which to me is the way to solve any problem. I honestly believe that I'll never have to spend any more money on guitar instructional material again (I'm not a big fan of having lessons) because anything I want to learn how to do is right there in front of me, plain to see. Now all I need to do is practice. Thanks Kirk. Smiley |

Hi Kirk I have had one read through already and had loads of those "WOW!" moments, it makes perfect sense and I could honestly kick myself for never realising the concept before. Many thanks, the book is worth its weight in gold and I know that this will take me to the next level. Many thanks from an appreciative customer. you're a star! |

Kirk, First of all: AMAZING. That word sums it up!!! I've been playing for 20 years and even though I play well it has never made any real sense (all of my compositions have come out almost "accidentally" and they all seemed like scales on steroids!!!). Now, it's like writing lyrics, I know the letters AND how to use them to write words. Obviously it takes time and practice to get the hang of it (it wouldn't work if it didn't!!!!) but after two reads and watching the DVD I understand the potential. WOW!!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!! |

Kirk, I came home from a weekend in the Pennsylvania mountains to find the PT items at my door. Here are a few observations and comments: 1) I went to college for jazz studies as a guitar major. Too bad they had not taken the time to develop a system of learning such as PT. Or at least found one and implemented it. 2) A huge BRAVO on demystifying music theory 101. While I now how a sound understanding of the diatonic system, you have really simplified it in PT. 3) In my "minds ear", my improvisations are generally triad based, with a splattering of histrionics from having heard so much music over the years. This makes your system especially apropos. 4) I have had 6 teachers in 20 years. Only 1 could succinctly convey guitar instruction. PT is the most essential and useful instruction material I have ever seen. 5) After 1 good long look, I had a very inspiring practice session. I found a new dialect. Very exciting! I sincerely appreciate all of your time and effort that went into developing PT. It is a very thoughtful approach! I definitely have my work cut out for me. |

Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is awesome. I just finished it. I do have one problem, how am I going to continue to teach guitar without somehow using some of your methods. They are genius!!!!! I will recommend this series to any and all of my students. Again, many thanks, especially for the speedy international shipping. I will sign up for your forum when I get a chance, and once i've read the book several times, and had a greater chance to explore it. |

Hi Kirk Got the book & DVD couple days back.... you've put into 2 hours of lessons what i couldn't figure out in nearly 20 years. Your approach simply blew me away. It's brought the fun back into playing. Thanks for putting it together. You rule! Regards |

Just wanted to report that I'm getting a lot out of your PlaneTalk package. Very nicely done! As a guitar player for 33 years and a slide player for about 4, I'm one of your "classic" customers that just couldn't get out of the pentatonic box. I've had PlaneTalk for about a week and I'm all over the fretboard. What a difference your system has made in my ability to express myself on the guitar, and it's getting better and easier everyday. Thank you for taking the time to put it all together, and in such a clear and clever way. The comic strip format is great (and funny!), the dvd is a perfectly paced visual compliment, and the slide rule... what a handy tool. I'm very happy with it and grateful that you've made it available. Thank you, Kirk. Adam Boltz |

I have had PT for about two weeks now and can safely say it is the best thing I have ever purchased. |

If this review could be reduced to one word, that word would be “WOW!” If this review could be reduced to two words, those words would be “SUPER-DUPER!” If this review could be reduced to three words, those words would be, “FAN-blanking-TASTIC!” The rest of this review will re-hash what is said in this paragraph.>p> First of all, I am not easily impressed with most of what passes as guitar instructional materials. I probably have close to 200 books, video tapes, and dvds of song books and “how to play guitar” courses in many different formats. Most of them promise the world, but are short on delivery. Kirk Lorange delivers. If I were to be stranded on a desert island with a guitar, this is the one item I would choose to take with me. Why? It is because Kirk gives you what you need to learn how to play the music that is in YOUR head, not someone else’s songs. When we mention that we play guitar, they always ask, “What do you play?” I would like to be able to say, “I play whatever I want.” Mr. Lorange has developed a secret for unlocking how to see and visualize the entire fretboard. Some might call this a very clever “trick”, but whatever you call it, it does work. The author states that this is not for the beginner, but I disagree strongly. I would have been in Heaven if something like this was available when I started playing more than 45 years ago. You may be wondering, if this is so simple, why haven’t some others discovered/invented this same concept? Well, many others have come close. Here is a list of a few other similar offerings: Uncle Tim’s Chords (and Scales) Triad Power Fretboard Roadmaps Fretboard Logic Guitar Grimoire Logic of the Fretboard Herb Ellis Blues Shapes This list could go on and on. The above list items are just the ones I can see on the bookshelf, right now, from my desk chair. At first look-through, it may seem that this set of learning guides is directed to those who want to play lead guitar. While it most certainly will prepare you for this, it also excels for those who prefer to play country, jazz, blues, chord melody, and most all other styles and approaches. Music is universal. And, the author can walk the walk, as well as talk the talk! He also offers tons of free guitar lessons for beginners and for intermediate players at guitarforbeginners.com/ There is also forum for members only who have purchased the Plane Talk package. In other words, there is ongoing support and encouragement from others just like you, and from Kirk Lorange, himself. Stop by and say hello. I’m there. Bottom Line: If you really want to learn how to play the guitar, all over the fretboard, in any key, then you should go ahead and order this today. You can learn how to play without having to mess with any scales or modes. Don’t get me wrong, you can’t watch a dvd a couple of times and expect to play like Eric Clapton, but if you are willing to practice the concepts in this methodology, you will progress much faster than you ever thought possible.
