Hi Kirk,
I would certainly like to join the forum. I have spent a good few hours working with the Plane Talk package and only wish this had been available back in the late 60's and early 70's when all the emphasis seemed to be based on technical ability, and I and probably many others like me were trying to make sense of harmony, melody and improvisation etc: Even now at the ripe old age of 56 this approach has solved a lot of mysteries and removed a lot of bewildering "technical clutter".
I could probably babble on for hours, but I guess I'll save that for the forum.
Regards, Steve Q

I just went through the first lesson of the bonus lessons pack and man, it’s awesome. This is the very first time I have ever seen the fretboard presented like you do. I can finally see how lead players tie everything together. Sure, there’s a bunch of technique and all that, but I can finally see how everything connects. Committing it to memory is another story, but I have a completely new outlook on where I’m going and how to get there.
I guess I just want to say, “Thanks, Kirk.” This old dog may learn a new trick after all.

GRNXNM & ZAP from PlaneTalkers' Forum - excerpt from a post about the PlaneTalk mindset |
GRNXNM:
"Yes! I see it! ...... It all fits!!! This is really incredible stuff. I have many books that so over-complicate this matter than it... I'm at a loss for words to describe the sense of outrage/frustration/anger I feel, which is vastly overridden by the feelings of relief and joy at discovering what you guys have know for years. I mean it is SO SIMPLE that it's truly stunning that this information isn't common knowledge. Everyone is learning this stuff backwards, the VERY HARD way".
ZAP:
This is such a familiar feeling that I could almost be reading my own posts from a couple of years back!
As I've said elsewhere, when this started to sink in for me I actually felt cheated! WHY had nobody ever told me this in 20 years of struggling to play the guitar? Why had I learned all those keys, scales, arpeggios and modes as though they were all individual, complicated things I had to remember all the time while I played? It all seemed, as you say, so VERY HARD when in fact it was just looking at everything backwards.

Hello Kirk,
I got to watch the DVD this weekend and am really thrilled. You did a nice job and though I was familiar with the CAGED concept, yours is so much easier I think I'll actually be able to get somewhere. Thank you.

After reviewing the PlaneTalk web site several times, I finally decided to take the plunge and purchase the PlaneTalk Package. To be honest with you, I thought the PlaneTalk description was too good to be true. What was this secret that would enable me to have command of the whole fretboard?
I received the PlaneTalk book, DVD and Slide Rule a little over a week ago. I’ve read the book and watched the DVD three times already. I’ve also read every post on the forum. Thanks for including the CAGED Method Lesson and the Chord Tone Blues CD.
The PlaneTalk method breaks the code for mastering the fretboard and puts everything into perspective. The book explains everything in a simple easy to grasp format and the Slide Rule makes the whole fretboard visually uncomplicated. The DVD reinforces the information with several examples and the soloing portion on the DVD puts everything into practice. The PlaneTake method is too good to be true and well worth the purchase.
Thanks Kirk,
Mike

Hello again Kirk,
I just wanted to inform you about a couple of things.
1:) I got the missing guitar ruler the other day, and everything is well under the sun
2:) I will recommend planetalk to everyone that will lend me their ears for a sec !!!!
in forums email etc ... (but of course with commons sense and etiquette )
3:) YOU ARE A GENIOUS !
4:) Thank you so much for not keeping all this info for yourself !
I must have bought about 35 - 45 guitarbooks over the years,
none of them can compete with planetalk!! as a matter of fact,
only one book before your's have really helped me, and that's Bill Edwards
C.A.G.E.D system book, which is brilliant, but get really busy after the initial
revelation. Planetalk doesn't suffer from that illness :) you have the best of the
best of the best.!
My only regret now is that I should have bought this book 15 years ago :)
best wishes
from Sweden

Kirk, your book and website is invaluable. It's the cheapest guitar book I bought for the most money. My paying you back will be recommending it to everyone.

Many thanks,
Your plane talk book has opened my eyes. I’ve been one of those people who have been playing the guitar for over forty years (it really has been that long and no I didn’t start with a lute) but just got stuck and could find neither inspiration or relevant instruction. I gave up for about ten years but decided to take it up again. I bought your ‘PlaneTalk’ out of simple curiosity having seen the samples on line. Among the reams of music I have it is without doubt a revelation.
Best regards
John

Thanks Kirk and I must say that after years of drilling a few scales and modes into my head and wondering how to use them, along with the constant "I must learn more arpeggios", your method is exactly what I've been looking for & needing. I've been basing my learning on the Caged system so it is a smooth flow over to your method & I can see my playing is going to progress quickly and with great pleasure.
Along with my Ragtime, Country blues & Celtic learning, I now feel I have a genuine path to learning improvisation over the "normal" [ for want of a better word ] styles of guitar that are necessary and so much fun.
You should give yourself a slap on the back everyday for producing this.
